ME 5446: Introduction to Combustion (4 credits; Spring 2020, Spring 2021, Spring 2022, Spring 2023, Spring 2024)

Course contents: Chemical equilibrium, introductory chemical kinetics, chemical reactors, transport equations for multi-component reacting flows, detonations and deflagrations, laminar flame propagation in premixed gases, ignition and quenching, laminar diffusion flames and droplet burning, turbulent reacting flows.
 
 
ME 8345: Computational Heat Transfer and Fluid Flow (3 credits; Fall 2021, Fall 2023)

Course contents: Computational grids, governing equations of heat transfer & fluid flows, discretization in space and time, unsteady parabolic & hyperbolic equations, solution of unsteady incompressible Navier-Stokes equations by pressure-correction approaches, solution of unsteady compressible Euler & Navier-Stokes equations, boundary condition treatment, RANS/LES/DES turbulence modeling. 
 
ME 8363: Introduction to Reactive Flow Systems (3 credits; Fall 2022)
 
Instructor: Prof. Suo Yang
 
Course contents: Chemical kinetics, molecular transport, chemical mechanism reduction and analysis (including both skeletal and timescale/eigenmode-based approaches), advanced chemistry solvers for stiff systems, plasma chemistry and modeling, heterogeneous chemistry for solid-gas and liquid-gas systems.
